OPIS

Autorzy monodramu "Więcej światła" podjęli próbę diagnozy sytuacji młodego pokolenia Polaków skazanych po raz kolejny w swojej historii na emigrację zarobkową; tym razem do Anglii i Irlandii. Bohaterka dramatu jest młodą dziewczyną, która w wieku 16 lat wyjeżdża z Polski do Dublina w poszukiwaniu pracy i ojca, który tam już mieszka i pracuje od pewnego czasu. Dziewczyna podejmuje pracę w sklepie z obuwiem i wspomina swoje dzieciństwo i krótką młodość w Polsce. Tęskni za ojcem, który nie ma dla niej czasu, marzy o szczęściu, pragnie miłości. Tak niewiele i aż tak wiele. Dziewczyna nie może wrócić do Polski, ponieważ i tam nie ma pracy i nie ma szans na normalne życie, a w Irlandii czuje się obco i tęskni za ojczyzną. Oto dramat młodych Polaków, którzy czują się oszukani i bardzo samotni. Kto jest odpowiedzialny za ten stan rzeczy?

Based on the experiences of the co-writer and performer, this funny and touching, award-winning play deals with dreams and realities of emigration. Natalia leaves Poland for Ireland at the age of 16. She needs a job and wants to find her father who has been working in Dublin for some time. She's full of hope and excited about starting a new life. But the reality is she has to look after herself in a new country and an unknown environment. She gets a job in a shoe shop but feels lonely, estranged and alienated. She is forced to choose between remaining true to herself or abandoning her dreams. She really wants to be on stage. She wants to show the world that despite the odds she will make it. She just needs more light.

 

"More Light Please" premiered in Dublin in 2007 and won First Prize at the Polish National Contemporary One Person Show Festival in Warsaw. 

 

Its message is universal, shows feelings of many immigrants who are not only a pair of hands... but have their own ambitions and dreams. Polish Neighbour
